Are you looking for a trip to a seaside resort with a mild climate and interesting culture? Paros, Mykonos, Santorini: here are some ideas for travelling in autumn to the beautiful islands of Greece.

These islands to the southeast of Greece are breathtakingly beautiful, ideal destinations for holidays to the sea while enjoying the autumn sunshine: these are the three most famous Greek islands of the Cyclades and are a fundamental part of the ever vibrant Greek tourism.

Not only in summer, but also in the mild autumn climate, the Cycladic islands can be ideal destinations for lovers of seascapes and cultural journeys. Especially if you think that, contrary to the summer season when these islands are full of tourists, autumn is the calmest period to discover the "pearls" of the Aegean in their authenticity.

Easy to reach and hospitable: these are the Cyclades Islands, the perfect destination for the whole family for a fun filled trip, relaxation and active tourism. The Mediterranean climate with a warm summer and 300 sunny days a year are a real guarantee of a successful holiday. The bright colours, from the blue in all its shades, to the green and light pastel that frame windows and balconies, including the bright pink of bougainvillea and oleanders, will enchant visitors, especially photography and portraits lovers.

The soul of the islands linked to the sea with its fun activities on the water and even the gluttons of Greek cuisine will then satisfy every taste. Far from the crowds, still wild in some areas, ideal because they are also prepared for young travelers are the islands of Paros and Antiparos, each with its own particular charachter, magical atmosphere and a charm to be discovered slowly.

The island for those who want everything is Paros, organized and lively, combining worldliness and relaxation. There are many sandy and easily accessible beaches, games and activities to do on the water and numerous shops that populate the alleys to buy colourful souvenirs, as well as bars and cafes, where music and cocktails fill you with joy. Archeology and shopping, history and legend mingle in the capital, Parikia, which means community and in fact this cheerful city over the years, from generation to generation has remained in step with the times, changing and rebuilding itself from the ancient ruins. The children will have fun looking for numerous pieces of temples and columns in the city's palaces which now act as supporting bricks. With amazement it is possible to admire friezes or sculptures that emerge from the walls of public houses, as in the case of the Venetian Castle. Treasures from the past centuries, with pre-Cycladic statuettes and sculptures made with the famous white Paros marble are kept in the small but interesting Archaeological Museum, for a break of Hellenic culture and beauty. You can also visit the lively Naoussa with the port and the many restaurants, where you can enjoy the sunset while sipping an aperitif and ordering a fish dinner.

Wild and more informal, smaller, but very welcoming, Antiparos is the island of dreams if you want to switch off and enjoy the sea at 360 °. The most visited place is the Cave of Antiparos, a magical place where time, land and water have plowed great stalactites and stalagmites.

Climb to reach the hill of San Giovanni, in the south-eastern part of the island, 177 meters above sea level. According to scholars, the gigantic stalagmite at the entrance is the oldest in Europe, dating back to 45 million years ago. Just take a small dose of courage to go down the 411 steps that you need to reach the lowest point: going into the bowels of the cave for over 100 meters, you visit the large rooms, such as the stone waterfall, great tear of rock that they will leave everyone speechless. There are no street names in Antiparos and its heart moves around the main square and the Castle, with the central street dedicated to walks, which from the afternoon to the evening is brought to life with the small cafes and terraces of the restaurants.

These islands are the right compromise between tradition and tourism, the ideal place for couples, families and fans of scuba diving and windsurfing to visit.
