Padromos & Ambelas

Southeast of Parikia and 7 km south of Naoussa lies the small picturesque village of Prodromos built in the traditional Cycladic way, full of cubic white houses, small white chapels and beautiful churches. The village of Prodromo along with that of Marmara, form the community of “Archilogos” whose name reminds that of a famous poet of the island.

The name Prodromos was given to the village after the construction of the church of Aghios Ioannis Prodromos of the XVII century whose interior is decorated with beautiful icons. Ambelas is the name of a small fishing village located a few kilometers south of Naoussa, famous for its exquisite traditional taverns, where fresh fish and traditional dishes delight the senses and delight anyone who tastes them.

Marpissa

The picturesque village of Marpissa, is located on the hill of Kefalos exactly above Piso Livadi, 18 km southeast of Paroikia. Built in the form of an amphitheater (like the majority of Cycladic villages) around the hill, Marpissa, is a traditional Cycladic village with cubic white houses that are located between narrow streets, churches and mills.

Since it is one of the few traditional villages of Paros, Marpissa does not offer much accommodation, which gives it an incredible charm and unspoiled beauty.

Marpissa is a seaside resort and is close to the beaches of Logaras, Punda, Piso Livadi, Golden Beach and Drios. The ruins of an old castle and those of Moni of Aghios Antonios (Monastery of Sant’Antonio) are on the summit of the Kefalos hill.

Piso Livadi

The small fishing port of Piso Livadi is located a couple kilometers south of Marpissa and 19 km southeast of Paroikia. Piso Livadi was a small quiet village but has been transformed and intensely developed to attract more and more visitors. This important vacation spot has many restaurants, cafes and shops on the coastal road that rent various means of transport; Piso Livadi is famous for its exquisite Greek cuisine.

From this small harbor, daily small tours are organized for Naxos, Ios, Santorini and Amorgos. To the south of Piso Livadi you can find beautiful beaches such as the Golden Beach, considered one of the best places in the Mediterranean for windsurfing. A great religious festival of this small place, is the celebration of the Assumption: on this day between an event and the other, participants are served sea food and wine.
